Stake the road

Do not change the coordinate system or calibration after you have staked out points, or computed offset or intersection points. If you do, the previously staked out or computed points will be inconsistent with the new coordinate system and any points computed or staked out after the change.

  1. Make sure you are in Origin Roads. Tap and if the menu item below Job data shows General Survey or another app, tap that menu item and then select Roads and tap Accept.

  2. In the map, tap the road and then tap Stakeout.

    Alternatively, tap and select Stakeout, if needed select the name of the survey style to use, and then tap Roads. In the Select file screen, select the road to stake. If there are many roads in the job, use the Find file field to help you select the road to stake. Tap Next.

    The Road form appears alongside the map, showing the name of the selected road.

  3. If you have not yet started a survey, the software prompts you through the steps to start the survey.

  4. Enter a value in the Antenna height or Target height field and make sure that the Measured to field is set correctly.

  5. Enter the Station interval for lines and Station interval for arcs and transitions or accept the default value set when the road was defined.

    Station interval values are required when staking out a station on a string. These values are optional for other survey methods.

  6. Tap Next.

    The stakeout selection screen appears, with the name of the road shown at the top.

    Select the stakeout method to use. For more information and next steps, refer the topic for the stakeout method you have selected. If you select:

When staking a road design file:

  • If the road consists of a horizontal alignment only, you can stake it out in only two dimensions.
  • The horizontal and vertical alignments of the road may not start and end at the same station values. When they start and end at different station values, you can stake out points in three dimensions only if their stations lie within the horizontal alignment.

  1. Make sure you are in Origin Roads. Tap and if the menu item below Job data shows General Survey or another app, tap that menu item and then select Roads and tap Accept.

  2. In the map, tap the string and then tap Stakeout.

    Alternatively, tap and select Stakeout, if needed select the name of the survey style to use, and then select Strings and surfaces.

    The Strings and surfaces form appears alongside the map.

  3. If you have not yet started a survey, the software prompts you through the steps to start the survey.

  4. Enter a value in the Antenna height or Target height field and make sure that the Measured to field is set correctly.

  5. If you started from the map, the selected string is shown in the Primary stationing string field. To change or to select the Primary stationing string:

    • To select the Primary stationing string from the map, tap in the Primary stationing string field and then tap the string to use on the map.

      The Primary stationing string field shows the name of the string you selected.

    • To select the Primary stationing string from the list of strings in the job or linked to the job:

      1. Tap next to the Primary stationing string field.

      2. Select the string from the list. If needed, enter part of the string name in the Name field to filter the list of strings.

      3. Tap Accept to return to the Strings and surfaces form.

        The Primary stationing string field shows the name of the string you selected.

  6. Enter the Start station.

  7. Tap Accept.

    The stakeout selection screen appears, with the name of the Primary stationing string shown at the top.
